Kid Smash Games is an independent project by Anders Kitson, an independent developer in Canada. It started the way these things usually do: a small child, a laptop, and a search for "keyboard smash" that turned up a dozen sites of wildly different quality, some with ads, some broken, and none with a straight answer about whether the screen could be locked.
So this site does three things:
- Reviews every keyboard smash site we can find. We open each one, play it, try to get out of it, take our own screenshot and write down what we saw. 12 so far, last checked September 12, 2026.
- Makes small games of its own. Free, with no ads and no tracking: a koala that eats the leaves you smash, Running Koala, a moonlit forest adventure where smashing the keyboard helps the koala jump, spin and collect leaves, and Jelly Koala, a squishy see-through koala that eats the pods you tap and the keys you smash, and Acorn Arcade, a sunny 3D meadow where every key makes a little computer hop up and catch acorns, Pocketpal is a little 3D pocket pet with four pixel pals to feed, cuddle and put down for a nap, and Shiny Smash is a 3D sensory game where any key or tap scoops shiny gems into a glass until it spills. The Hungry Smoothie is the story book we promised: a very hungry blender that eats its way through the week as a toddler waves, moves or smashes, then blends and pours a purple smoothie. Newest is Jelly Alphabet, where every letter key pops a wobbly 3D jelly letter, a recorded voice says its name and a picture appears to go with it.
- Writes guides on the parts nobody explains: fullscreen, lockdown, what actually works at one year old.
Independence
Nobody pays to be listed or reviewed, and we do not accept free products in exchange for coverage. The site is funded by our own games, optional donations and a small number of labelled affiliate links to parent-safe gear. See the parents page for the details.
The weekly check
A script re-opens every listed site each week, confirms it still loads, refreshes the screenshot and updates the "last checked" date. When a site stops loading we mark it rather than delete it, so you know what happened.
