What it is like
Shiny Smash is a 3D sensory toy: a glass tumbler on a tiled floor with a scatter of coloured gems around it. Every letter, number, arrow or space bar press sends a little hand to scoop up to five gems and drop them in the glass, and so does a tap or a hold on the play area or the big SMASH! button. The glass holds 30 gems; when it is full the next smash tips it over, everything tumbles out with a swoosh, the "happy dumps" counter goes up and play starts again. An older child or a grown-up can drag single gems with the mouse or a finger and let them go over the glass, drag the glass sideways, or tap it to pour. There is no losing, no timer and no score to protect, and "Start fresh" puts everything back. The sounds are short clinks and swooshes with a mute button, and there is no music. It is free, with no ads, accounts or tracking, loads nothing from outside kidsmashgames.com, and needs a browser with WebGL; the whole game is under half a megabyte to download.

What to know
- No parent lock: fullscreen does not block browser or system shortcuts
- Needs WebGL, and the fullscreen button is hidden on iPhones
- One glass and one thing to do, so older children may tire of it sooner than of a game with goals
